**Sorry about the title! This is what my mom always said when my family pulled in the driveway after family vacations.

Russ and I had a great week at Seaside on our second trip together. I'm thinking we should definitely do this more often! Beach pictures were in the plans, but we talked ourselves out of it on our last day because we were LAZY!! Nothing wrong with that! Instead, we settled for a picture outside our cottage.


So far, my summer has been fantastic! How's yours?

Beachy Keen

**I definitely stole this title from another blogger friend. Appropriate for this post I thought...so I "borrowed" it.

Wednesday was another lovely day at the beach. We did exactly that. Spent the entire day at the beach...not even going in for lunch. We actually ate at Pickles on the beach.

Russ spent most of his time under the umbrella napping, playing with his iPhone, and reading. The temperature had to be 10 degrees cooler under that umbrella too! I joined him when I got overheated.

Occasionally, however, Russ would come out from under his umbrella to take a little swim in the water. Of course I joined him a few times too. Take note that I rarely get in the ocean...or lake for that matter. The thought of fish and green slimy seaweed nipping at my legs has always made me a little jumpy. However, this was a week with my hubby...so I obliged and got in a while.

After a fun day outside, it was time for supper and evening activities. Russ and I decided to drive over to Panama City Beach (in honor of the Smith/Coon vacation) to eat at Captain Anderson's. The food was fabulous! Russ had Stuffed Flounder while I had (y0u guessed it!) popcorn shrimp! I tried to take pictures, but my photography skills are lacking.

After dinner, Russ and I decided to have a little "kid fun." It was time for Goofy Golf. My family has played Goofy Golf in Panama City Beach for as long as I can remember. So, I was super excited about the game!

Russ played a great game, but unfortunately was outplayed! Yep. That's right. I whooped his hiney! He was a great sport about it though. The evening was just FUN!

Once again, a great day! Thanks, Russ, for such a wonderful week with no distractions, studying, and schedules! Oh, and thanks for "letting" me win in Goofy Golf! Love you!

A Day in the Life

Sorry to tell you that there are no sunny beach pictures today. Not because we didn't go. We did! Because Russ just wasn't feeling it I guess. But there are pictures from the later part of the day. Now, let me tell you about "a day in the life" of Seaside's Cloud Nine residents.

Russ and I woke up this morning and went for a short run. Russ was gracious enough to run with me and my slow self. Let me tell you...I did not run early enough! The sun and heat were almost too much to bare! We made it a little over 2 miles before I thought I was gonna pass out. After showers (because we were NASTY!), Russ and I headed down to the beach for the day. Let's see...I finished Someday, and I will start on Sunset tomorrow. I listened to my iPod and napped. Russ and I got in the ocean a while to cool off and jump the waves. Overall, we had another great day at the beach! We came in around 5 to walk around the town center, stopping at the market for water and butter, and grill hamburgers for supper.

After supper, we decided to walk around Seaside and grab some ice cream. We ended up stopping at one of the pavilions on the beach, shopping, buying even more books, and then got our ice cream before heading back to watch a movie.

So there you have it! A day in the life. Gotta go now...time for the movie to begin.

Sunshine and Summertime

Yes sir!  It's officially summertime for me!  For as long as I can remember, my summers started immediately with our family trip to Panama City Beach with my grandparents and the rest of the family.  So, it's really not summer for me until we go to the BEACH!  The forecast for today was SUNSHINE and it was SUMMERTIME!!  

Russ and I had a great first day here in Seaside.  We spent all day outside.  Russ woke up around 7 a.m. to run 7 miles!!  Wow!  Then, we went to the beach around 9:30 or 10.  We stayed there until it was time for lunch.  It was heavenly listening to the waves, sitting back, and reading some Kingsbury!

After lunch, we headed to the pool to check things out.  It was not crowded at all, so we "popped a squat" and stayed a while.  When it got a little too hot, we could just jump in the pool for a while.  So nice!  Then, we napped on the padded layout chairs.  Russ and I thought we wouldn't know what to do on a vacation by ourselves...but don't you fear!  We found perfectly relaxing things to do today!

After a fair amount of sunshine for the day (and, trust me - I got PLENTY for one day!) Russ and I got showered and felt fresh as daisies.  So fresh that we decided to head to Destin for some outlet mall shopping.  But, first things first.  We must eat!  I immediately contacted Lee because he knows Destin like the back of his hand, and he suggested Pompano Joe's.  In case you've never tried it, you must!  It was delicious!  Not only that, but it is right on the beach.  All the windows are wide open, and we actually sat on the front balcony with only a rail separating us from the beach.

Ahhh...this is the life!

We are on Cloud Nine!

Literally.

Russ and I left today for Seaside, FL.  We have not been on a vacation with "just the two of us" since our honeymoon in 2005.  Most of our friends think we're crazy, but I must say vacationing with our families has been extremely fun!  We have also never spent our anniversary alone.  Obviously, it's not that big of a deal to us.  Usually we are in Panama City Beach with my family, and this year we spent our anniversary in lovely San Francisco!  What could be better?  This year we decided to plan an anniversary trip for US.  

And we are literally on Cloud Nine!

I have been to Seaside several times, and Russ went last year when we spent the week here with his family.  But, I must tell you that this is absolutely the cutest little cottage I have ever seen!  I did see pictures online before we got here, but they just don't do it justice.  We took a few to show you...but, again, they will not do it justice!  We are very excited about our week!

After checking in and checking out our little humble abode, we spent the evening in Destin.  We ate at Cheeseburger in Paradise and did some grocery shopping for the week.  Now we are back at Cloud Nine watching our cute little TV!  

I can't wait to hit the beach tomorrow!!  Sunshine, here we come!
