MSU vs. Auburn

This weekend was the beginning of our SEC football rivalries!  We played Auburn.  It was an 11:00 game, so we left town early morning...like 5:30!  Even then, we didn't make it in time to unload at the curb where we tailgate.  The roads were closed at 7!  So, we parked in our lot, and carried every last tent, chair, fan, table, cowbell, basket, bag, food plate, etc. across the street little by little.  The temperature was wonderful.  The sky was cloudy.  We grabbed breakfast at the bookstore and came out just in time to see the players drive up.

We spent our morning just like any other tailgate.  Enjoying each other, playing corn hole, and eating!

We didn't have many visitors before the game since it was so early.  But we did have one visitor who hung around all day long...

Merle the Squirrel!  A tiny baby squirrel fell out of the tree next to our tent.  He was obviously very comfortable with people seeing as how he let Dustin pet him, climbed into a cowbell, tried to stowaway in Daddy's bag, and ran over Kristin's foot!  I was terrified he would sneak into a bag and crawl over my shoulder on our way home.

The excitement surrounding this game was fantastic!  We "woulda shoulda coulda" beat Auburn SO many times, and this year we were determined to do it!  The crowd was strong despite the threat of rain...and pregame downpour!

One of my favorite parts of game day is the pregame excitement!  The Famous Maroon Band performed the traditional songs...

The game was incredible!  Our dawgs got off to a slow start, but once they got a rhythm...we were golden!  Mama just kept saying, "I love it when we play big boy ball!"  Ha!  There was lots of cowbell ringing.  Lots of screaming.  Lots of standing on our feet.  Lots of high fives.  Lots of cheers.

To make a long story short, we not only beat Auburn.  We beat them good!  28-10 was the final score!

The team stormed the field and the crowd went wild!  This was a big win for us...one we have been waiting on for years!

Needless to say, I was one happy girl!  We hung around for it all.  We watched the players run over to the student section giving high fives and jumping around.  We listened as the band played the Alma Mater.  And we hung around to take in the afterglow.  It as a great day to be a Bulldog!

After the game, we headed back to the tailgate to watch some more football on the television and eat some yummy food Kristin prepared.  We had several visitors throughout the afternoon.  Most were very disappointed to find that Millie Janalee had  not made this trip. (more on that later)

Millie Janalee had a full day too!  We made the decision to not take her to this game since it was mid-afternoon and there was a threat of rain.  It was a great decision.  She had a fabulous time with "Auntie Jen," Jake, Hanna, and Jude. 

It began with an early morning football game to watch Jude play his first game.  Apparently it continued with her first Twix!  Ha!  NOT on her diet!

She spent lots of time snuggled up next to Jennifer and Hanna.  Hanna did a great job helping Jennifer babysit!  I knew she would.

Don't worry!  She didn't miss the game!  I left game day outfits and a cowbell for her to ring when she watched on television...

It was a great day to be a BULLDOG!  Whether watching on television or at Davis Wade Stadium!
